Until today, users were able to log into WaniKani with either their username or email address. They were also able to reset their password and recover their account with username or email address.

Usernames are public information (available on the Community) and are not a secure way to reclaim an account, so we’ve decided to remove them as an authentication option.

Going forward, users will need to use their email address to log in to WaniKani, reset passwords and recover their account
